Country Adventures
In spring time, visitors can enjoy the sight of the flowering almond
groves - a time when the hillsides are covered in delicately coloured
trees for miles.
Throughout the summer, each Spanish town has it sown festival or
“feria” - unique in flavour and style. Guaro, the nearest
town, a few kilometres away, celebrates its feria in August.
In addition, Guaro is famous for its annual “Luna Mora”
(the Moorish Moon) festival in September, when the streets are alive
with Arabic music and market stalls selling everything from food
and drinks such as Moroccan delicacies, herbal remedies and products
made by local artisans. The town celebrates late into the night,
whilst the narrow streets stay bathed in light from thousand of
candles perched on balconies, in doorways, hanging from stalls and
along paths.
For golfers, the nearest green is on the way to Alhuarin el Grande
or the world class resorts of Marbella.
The Marbella Gun and Country Club, nestled in the next valley, is
only 10 minutes way, offering a superb array of activities from
clay-pigeon shooting to quad biking, mountain biking, horse riding,
all-terrain go-carting and archery.
Walking/hiking through the hills and valleys is a superb way to
spend the days and local companies also provide 4 x 4 safaris. Visitors
can explore the castles, white villages and lakes of the area.
For those who prefer a more leisurely day, taking a drive through
the pueblo blancos of the Serrania de Ronda always delivers a fascinating
journey.
